The Resume

    (April 20, 1961- )
Played for the New York Yankees (1982-1995)
    American League MVP (1985)
    American League Batting Champion (1984)
    American League All Star (1984-1989)
    Winner of nine Gold Gloves
10th New York Yankee captain (1991-1995)
Had a career .307 batting average

Why he might be annoying:

The Yankees appeared in the 1981 World Series and did not play in another series until 1996 (he came up in 1982 and played until 1995).
He was 'the curse of Don Mattingly.'
His only playoff appearance came when the team won a wild card spot in his final season.
There has been debate over the years pertaining to whether or not he belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame, as a back injury later in his career would limit his abilities and eventually cut his career short.
In 1991, he was benched by Yankee manager Stump Merrill for refusing to cut his hair to a length that was appropriate under team rules.
This resulted in a $250 fine.
His cut hair was eventually auctioned for $3000 by a New York radio station for charity.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is known as the 'Hitman' and 'Donnie Baseball.'
His base hit broke up Lamarr Hoyt's bid for a perfect game (May 2, 1984).
He won the then highest salary arbitration of $1,975,000 per year (February 17, 1987).
He signed a five year $19.7 million five year contract (April 9, 1990).
He hit a record six grand slams in one year (1987).
He tied a record of hitting home runs in eight straight games (July 18,1987).
He set the A.L. record for extra base hits in ten straight games (July 19, 1987).
He tied the A.L. record of 22 put outs at first base (July 20, 1987).
He was one of only eleven players to be named Yankee captain in the team's history.
He shares the record for most consecutive games with a home run (eight).
As a guest voice on 'The Simpsons,' he parodied his whole hair-cutting incident.
While attempting to catch a foul ball, he reached into a kid's popcorn box and took some popcorn to the kid's delight.
The Yankees retired his number 23.
    He is left handed.
