National League Gold Glove Winner (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996)
American League Championship Series MVP (1997)

His nickname was 'Grip.'
He was a journeyman player.
His productivity declined dramatically following his trade to Milwaukee.
He was relegated to the bench in the later stages of his career.
He was a pawn as all his teams either traded him or released him for financial reasons.
