Why he might be annoying:

    There was a five-year gap between his first and second script sale (1977-82), during which time he worked 'virtually every temp job known to man.'
    He mumbled during story pitches.
    Fellow writer/producer David Lee claimed that he coined the euphemism 'boinking' for a 'Cheers' script.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He won eight Emmys as a writer and producer.
    'Frasier' co-creators Peter Casey and David Lee said he was 'one of the sharpest comedy minds to ever write for television.'
    Niles and Daphne's son in 'Frasier' was named David in tribute to him.
    He and his wife Lynn were active in children's charities, particularly the Hillside treatment center near their home in Pasadena.
    The American Screenwriters Association established a David Angell Humanitarian Award in his honor.
