Why she might be annoying:

She dropped out of school after winning a beauty contest.
She married a banker at at 14 (she lied about her age).
She married twice more but had no children.
She had affairs with Wallace Beery, Charlie Chaplin, and John Barrymore.
She is only remembered as the Manassa Mauler's movie star wife.
She actually hated boxing and caused him to break from his long-time manager.
She and her husband co-starred in a Broadway play based on his boxing career which bombed.
She left Dempsey after Lupe Velez advised her to marry a director who would further her career. (She did, but her career tanked anyway.)
She allegedly signed a fan's autograph book, beneath her ex-husband's signature, 'This is the last time that son-of-a-bitch is on top of me. Estelle Taylor.'

Why she might not be annoying:

    She portrayed Lucrezia Borgia.
She served on the Los Angeles City Animal Regulation Commission.
She acted in one of Clara Bow's better 'talkies.'
Unlike many of her starlet contemporaries, she was savvy in money matters which enabled her to maintain the control in her relationships.
She was allegedly the last person to see Lupe Velez alive, the night before her suicide.
Jack Kearns had her followed by detectives in an attempt to blackmail her into leaving Dempsey.
Jack Dempsey went so far as to have plastic surgery and try his hand at acting to please her.
He later said of her, 'I resented her more than I disliked her. In fact, I would have taken her back if she had snapped her fingers.'
Walter Wanger allegedly fired her from Paramount after she cut short their affair.
When Louella Parsons falsely reported that Wanger was also seeking out Dempsey to fight for Taylor's affections, he was forced to cower before Dempsey to prove it wasn't true.
