The Resume

    (May 13, 1956- )
Born in Romford, Essex, England, United Kingdom
With his wife, Judy Finnigan, hosted 'This Morning' (1988-2001) and 'Richard and Judy' (2001-09)
Hosted 'Connections' (1988-89), 'Runaway' (1988-93), and 'Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway' (2007)
Named as Piers Morgan's replacement on 'Good Morning Britain' (2021)

Why he might be annoying:

He admitted to ten affairs during his first marriage.
He was twice arrested for shoplifting (1991), but avoided conviction by claiming he had intended paying for the goods but suffered a memory lapse.
He claimed to have seen a ghost in his Paris hotel room.
He has said that his bent nose 'makes me look like a demented parrot.'
He is famed for his gaffes, such as: referring to 'countries like Africa'; asking a novelist, 'If you were going to write an autobiography, who would it be about?'; and asking a group of dwarves if people patronized them, adding, 'That means they talk down to you.'
He revealed on air, 'When me and Judy were trying to conceive, I used to douse my balls in icy water before intercourse.'
He claimed the COVID-19 lockdown was unnecessary, arguing the virus was nowhere near as deadly as the Black Death (2020).
As an advice columnist for The Telegraph, he dismissed a reader's concern about domestic violence at his neighbors' residence with the line, 'If they were going to kill each other, they would have done it by now.' (2020)

Why he might not be annoying:

He recalled that his father 'was always losing his temper and a fairly minor infraction on my part would result in him grabbing his stick and laying about me for four or five strokes.' (The whippings stopped after his mother found out and threatened to go to the police if it happened again.)
He was bullied in grammar school.
He and Judy hosted an Oprah-style book club on their chat show.
He said about his marriage to Judy, 'People don't want to believe it is possible to be happily married. But I don't give a fart what they think.' (2011)
He noted that despite his reputation for on-the-air gaffes, 'I've done thousands and thousands of hours of live television and I've never been sued for libel.'
