    Archie mellowed from irascibly bigoted to just kinda cranky.
    Jean Stapleton appeared as Edith in only six episodes of the first season, then quit.
    The 'Those Were The Days' theme song was redone as an instrumental without Archie and Edith singing.
    One of its episodes was recycled from a rejected pilot for the spin-off 'Gloria.'
    It tried to invoke one of the original series' iconic moments by bringing Sammy Davis, Jr., back for another appearance.
    It did well enough its first season to knock Mork and Mindy out of its Sunday time slot.
    The original 'All in the Family' ensemble made their last appearance together in the first season's Thanksgiving episode.
    Reggie Jackson and Don Rickles made memorable guest appearances.
    It had a moving episode in which Archie deals with Edith's death.
