He was nominated by a political party founded off of his own show's cult following.
He was elected to the Presidency despite having no political or public service experience.
He ran for President with an almost non-existent policy platform consisting of vague platitudes.
He was scrutinized for his business ties to Ukraine's controversial oligarch and media mogul, Ihor Kolomoisky.
He holds a law degree despite never having actually practiced in the legal profession.
Why he might not be annoying
He is a fan of Monty Python.
He competed on Ukraine's Dancing With the Stars.
He sported 4.2 million Instagram followers prior to winning the Presidency.
He was elected by an overwhelming majority of Ukraine's electorate.
He claimed his strength as a candidate was that he lacked particularly strong political views on either side, making his motto 'no promise, no disappointment.'
On 'Servant of the People' he played a teacher who was launched into the Presidency after a rant of his on government went viral (practically art foreshadowing life).
