Crime Fighter

The Resume

    (1939- )
    Born in Patterson, New Jersey
    F.B.I. agent from 1969 to 1986
Worked undercover six years (1976-81), infiltrating the Bonanno Mafia crime family
    Alias chosen was 'Donnie Brasco'
His 1987 book 'Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life in the Mafia' made into a 1997 movie, with Johnny Depp portraying him
Other books written include 'The Way of the Wiseguy' (2004) and 'Donnie Brasco: Unfinished Business' (2007)
Executive producer of the 2008 TV movie 'Wisegal,' starring Alyssa Milano and James Caan

Why he might be annoying:

His undercover operation was supposed to last six months - instead it lasted six years.
The code name for his infiltration was 'Sun-Apple,' due to its operations out of Miami and 'Big Apple' New York.
During his operation, he was introduced to businessman Bobby Covert, who was really a New Jersey cop working undercover (neither new of the other's undercover assignment).
He was going to become a 'made man' after he whacked a mob rival, but the hit was called off.
After his operation ended and it was revealed he was the law, a $500,000 contract was put on his head, then rescinded after the mob guy that ordered it died.
He still lives with a secret ID in an undisclosed location, traveling disguised under assumed names.
He helped write for the short lived 2000 TV series 'Falcone' starring Jason Gedrick (a cheap Donnie Brasco rip-off).

Why he might not be annoying:

Before 'Operation Sun-Apple,' he successfully broke up a truck theft ring and secured the arrest of over 30 mobsters.
With his Sicilian heritage (and fluency in Italian), he became Donnie Brasco so convincingly that he was closer than any F.B.I. agent before him to becoming a 'made man.'
The evidence he gathered led to over 200 indictments and over 100 convictions of Mafia members.
To keep from getting killed, he carries a firearm at all times and will not venture to parts of New York or New Jersey.
He has been called as an expert on organized crime to testify before the U.S. Senate.
He has provided info as a consultant to law enforcement agencies worldwide, including Scotland Yard.
In a weird partnership, he co-wrote the 2005 novel 'The Good Guys' with crime boss Joseph Bonanno's son Salvatore, who was never keen on Mafia life.
