    Head coach for the men's basketball teams at Regis University (1959-64), University of Central Missouri (1964-65) and the University of Kentucky (1972-85)
    NCAA Champion (1978)
    NCAA National Coach of the Year (1978)
    SEC Coach of the Year (1973, 1975, 1978, 1983)

Why he might be annoying:

    He wore coke bottle glasses.
    He beared a resemblance to the late Buddy Holly as a result.
    His name was often confused with that of R&B singer Jon B., if you don't add the Hall at the end.
    His middle name is Beasman.
    His retirement consisted of hunting, fishing and attending high school and college games.
    As of 2022, He was snubbed by the Naismith Hall of Fame, despite the fact he won an NCAA title and more than 70% of the games he coached at Kentucky.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served as an assistant under legendary UK head coach Adolph Rupp.
    He made good on his promise to place an emphasis on recruiting players of color to play at the University of Kentucky.
    He went into the finance sector, following his retirement from coaching.
    He was married for 55 years, prior to his wife's death in 2007.
    He was good friends with his fellow rival coach Denny Crum.
    The two of them hosted their own sports talk radio show called 'The Joe B. and Denny Show.' in the Lexington area.
