Remembered for being vaguely controversial and not much else

It got creamed in the ratings and lasted only five episodes.
The show and its few fans blamed a vague right-wing conspiracy for the show's cancellation instead of its ratings.
Jane Lynch's character compared angels to herpes and serving God to working at Apple.
The directorial style with constant, quick cuts between very short scenes was off-putting.
The show concentrated on Maggie Lawson's disastrous dating life (three of the five aired episodes were about it) which was tiresome by the end of the first episode.
Lynch's character was supposed to come off as eccentric but lovable but was instead just infuriating.
Overall, it just wasn't very good, was not funny and was deceptively and incompetently promoted.
The music was intrusive and irritating.
Seriously, who was this show aimed at?

It had an excellent cast.
The profanity and (most) of the boozing by Lynch's character which caused so much controversy was limited to the first episode.
The writing was very clever in some places.
The supporting cast/guest stars were themselves very good.
Between its cast and creative team, it had considerable potential that will never be realized.
Viewers were mercifully spared any attempts at social commentary.
Whether Lynch's character was actually an angel or just a nut job was cleverly left up in the air.
