    Guitarist, singer, and songwriter
    Recorded the singles ‘Durham Town (The Leaving)’ (1969), ‘I Don’t Believe in It Anymore’ (1970), ‘New World in the Morning’ (1970), ‘The Last Farewell’ (1975), ‘Call My Name; (1979), and ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ (1982)

Why he might be annoying:

    He planned on a career in medicine, but dropped out of the University of Cape Town after eighteen months.
    Despite being English, he competed for Finland in Eurovision (1974).
    He was a one-hit wonder in the US, with ‘The Last Farewell’ his only Top 40 single.

Why he might not be annoying:

    ‘The Last Farewell’ sold 11 million singles worldwide.
    Although he initially had to learn the lyrics phonetically, he recorded over 25 albums of German songs and says his most loyal fans are in Germany.
    His father was murdered and his mother was tortured when a gang attacked their home in Kenya (April 1, 1989).
    He has been married to Natalie O’Brien for over fifty years.
