The Resume

    (August 25, 1979-May 22, 1984)
    Drama series
    Originally aired on ABC
    Robert Wagner as Jonathan Hart
    Stefanie Powers as Jennifer
    Lionel Stander as Max
Premise: A rich CEO and his journalist wife moonlight as detectives
Series was followed by eight made-for-television movies aired from 1993 to 1996

Why Hart to Hart might be annoying:

In the opening credits during season one, Max described his role on the show saying, 'I take care of them, which ain't easy, 'cause their hobby is murder!'
This led to some non-viewers to believe that the show was about a team of assassins.
The Harts own a pet dog named 'Freeway' because he was found on one.
ABC wanted Wagner's wife Natalie Wood to play Jennifer, but Wagner was reluctant to have her as his co-star.
Jennifer was often sporting a mink coat.
    In its debut season, it placed below the 30 top rated shows of the season;
It plunged to 41 during its final season.
NBC attempted to use the early made-for-television movies to launch its Friday Night Mystery Movie Series, but the ratings were mediocre.
After the first two seasons were released on DVD between 2005 and 2006, the remainder of the series was not released on the format until 2014.

Why Hart to Hart might not be annoying:

The principal actors had previously appeared in 'it Takes a Thief.'
Fortunately, the opening line was revised to say, 'Cause when they met...it was murder!'
Like James Bond, the Harts own several luxury cars.
By its third season, it was the 15th most watched series of the season.
It was created by Sidney Sheldon, and Aaron Spelling was one of its producers.
It probably inspired other series such as 'Remington Steele' and 'Moonlighting.'
