Why she might be annoying:

    She quit high school in her senior year.
    She smoked pot since the age of 12.
    She entered rehab to rid herself of a cocaine habit.
    She has a high pitched voice.
    As a child, she enjoyed eating dog food.
    She got into fights with jockeys and was fined each time.

    She and jockey, Jake Nied, wrestled after a race and had to be separated.
    Miguel Rujano hit her in the ear with his whip, so she socked him the face, then he pushed her into the swimming pool and she smashed him with a lawn chair (1986).
    She knocked some teeth out of jockey, Joe Bravo's mouth (1989).
    After almost dying by being thrown from her horse, she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and considered suicide.
    She suffers from anxiety and takes Zoloft.
    She says she can count on one hand the number of times her family had dinner together.

    She is the first woman jockey to win a triple crown race.
    She won aboard 13-to-1 long shot, Colonial Affair, to win the Belmont (June 5, 1993)
    She tied single day winning records at Monmouth (6) and Meadowlands (5).
    Her career lasted 18 years, she won 17% of her races (3,545) and more than $81 million in purses (1981-99).
    When she was a youngster, she did back flips on her horse and her father, instead of stopping her, would get a camera and ask her to do it again.
    When she was 15, her mother forged a birth certificate, so she could work at Churchill Downs as an exercise rider and groom.
    Her parents divorced when she was 15.
    She was thrown from a horse during a race and kicked by another horse after landing.
    She was nearly killed (August 1993) but returned to race 9 months later.
    She got a high school equivalency and is studying psychology in college.
    Her squeaky voice got her a job doing voice overs at Nickelodeon.
    In her induction speech to the hall of fame, she advised: 'I want this to be a lesson to all kids everywhere. If the stable gate is closed, climb the fence.'
    Within a two month period, her mother died, she got divorced and moved to California.
