Vocalist

The Resume

    (January 13, 1930-October 31, 2011)
    Born in Roseau, Minnesota
Birth name was Elizabeth Jane Haaby
Recorded the singles 'Go Now, Pay Later' (1966), 'Wife of the Party' (1966), 'Mama Spank' (1967), 'The Game of Triangles' (with Bobby Bare and Norma Jean, 1967) and 'Husband Hunting' (1970)
    Mother of singer Lynn Anderson

Why she might be annoying:

She got married at 16 and had a daughter at 17. (On the other hand, that's downright ancient compared to fellow country singer Loretta Lynn).
She was overshadowed by her daughter. (For example, two Top 5 country hits for Liz versus eleven #1 country hits for Lynn.)
She and Lynn appeared on a Mother's Day episode of 'The Lawrence Welk Show' to perform the duet 'Mother May I.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She was married to Casey Anderson for 65 years until her death.
At a time when few women in country music wrote songs, she served as vice-president of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
In addition to writing songs for herself and daughter Lynn, she wrote Merle Haggard's breakthrough hits 'All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers' (his first Top 10 country hit) and 'I'm A Lonseome Fugitive' (hit first #1 hit).
