Why he might be annoying:

He is often seen as being Don Cherry's punching bag.
He threatened to walk away from 'Hockey Night in Canada' when they wouldn't give him a raise (2002).
He was born to military parents.
He has done many silly commercials with Don Cherry.
Despite covering other sporting events, he is almost only known for 'Hockey Night in Canada.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He doesn't mind being a punching bag for Don Cherry.
He put up with Don's crap on HNIC for almost 20 years.
He has covered the Olympics in Seoul, Albertville and Atlanta, showing he can do more then just hockey coverage.
He has a cult-like following in Canada.
