The Resume

    (September 8, 1993-February 16, 1994)
    Aired on ABC
    Thea Vidale as Thea Armstrong-Turrell
Adam Jeffries as Jarvis Turrell, Jr.
    Brandy Norwood as Danesha Turrell
    Jason Weaver as Jerome Turrell
    Brenden Jefferson as James Turrell
    Cleavant Derricks as Lynette Armstrong-Russell
    Yvette Wilson as Charles Russell
Premise: Follows the wacky antics of a single black mother raising her three children

Why they might be annoying:

Thea and Brandy (or her mother) didn't get along during filming.
Thea later admitted to ruling the show with an iron fist and to clashing with the writers regularly.
Although viewership was initially high, the ratings declined steadily over the course of the season.
By the nineteenth episode, it was in 43rd place where it died a quiet death.
Its failure cosigned Thea to thankless roles like Shelton's Momma Benjamin on WWE Raw.
Has to be awkward when your TV daughter ends up the star of a sitcom that lasts longer than yours - which spawned a spin-off that your own TV Sister gets cast on! (Yvette Wilson later became Andell on The Parkers).

Why they might not be annoying:

Thea was nominated for a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female in a New Series.
Thea's line 'See Ya!' became a popular catchphrase.
It brought Brandy's singing voice to viewers' attention in several episodes.
It made history as the first time an African American female comedian starred in a sitcom named after her.
It tackled issues like racial profiling in department stores.
The gospel-tinged theme song was catchy.
Thea worked two jobs, one as a supermarket cashier by day, and the other running a small beauty salon in her home at night.
Countess Vaughn and Marcus T. Paulk made guest appearances on the show before they landed lead roles on Moesha.
