    Born in Bouere, France
    Catholic priest in Loudon, France

He took several lovers and fathered a child out of wedlock. (Vow of celibacy? What's that?)

He was convicted of immorality in 1630.
He made a lot of enemies in high places.
He allegedly wrote a satire ridiculing Cardinal Richelieu.

Why he might not be annoying:

A convent of nuns accused him of witchcraft and having them possessed by demons.
The so-called 'Loudon possessions' were part of a political ploy to destroy him.
He was brutally tortured and burned at the stake.
Despite his ordeal, he never confessed.
After his death, many of his executioners went mad.
His story inspired Aldous Huxley's book 'The Devils of Loudun' and Ken Russell's movie 'The Devils.
He was portrayed on screen by Oliver Reed.
