The Resume

    (July 17, 1955-July 20, 2023)
    Born in San Antonio, Texas
Birth name is William Fredrick Geddie
    Creator/Producer of The View
    Regularly collaborated with Barbara Walters

Why he might be annoying:

With Barbara Walters, he birthed The View.
He was accused of feeding Elisabeth Hasselbeck Right-wing talking points during her time at The View.
He constantly clashed with Rosie O'Donnell during her first and tumultuous stint on The View.
Rosie felt that both he and Barbara Walters initially took the side of Donald Trump after she provoked him by mocking his hair and his finances in 2006.
He got Kathy Griffin banned from The View, who remarked: 'Why a middle-aged white Republican runs a woman's show, I don't even know.'
He was let go, along with Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, after Barbara Walters announced her retirement from the show in May 2014.
He left Tamron Hall's daytime talk show after he and the host clashed on numerous occasions.
The final straw was said to have been after he tried to get Hall to interview Bill O'Reilly. She would only do it if she could ask about his sexual harassment allegations, which he opposed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He wrote the screenplay for the 1996 thriller 'Unforgettable,' starring Ray Liotta.
He produced Barbara Walters' annual Oscars and 'Most Fascinating People' specials.
He won a Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Talk Show category for his work as executive producer of The View in 2003 (he received nine other nominations).
He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Daytime Emmy Awards for his decades long career and contributions to television (June 23, 2012)
Many felt The View lost its way after his ouster in 2014.
Although no longer its showrunner, he was invited back as a guest to celebrate the airing of The View's 5,000th episode (November 7, 2019).
Audio was made public in 2019 from an August 2, 2006 show that had Elisabeth Hasselbeck trying to quit The View after an argument over birth control. He can clearly be heard on the tape talking her out of it and getting her back on set during the commercial break.
He was there for nearly every major moment in The View's history for its first 15 years (Star Jones's quitting on-air, Rosie and Elisabeth's shouting match, the Bill O'Reilly walkout, Donald Trump's birther argument, etc.).
