The Resume

    (September 22, 1909-October 27, 1973)
    Born in Mishawaka, Indiana
Birth name was Harry Leonard Albershardt
Portrayed Red Ryder in seven films (1946-47) and a TV series (1956-57)
Starred in the serials 'King of the Royal Mounted,' 'Yukon Patrol' and 'King of the Mounties'
Provided the voice of Mr. Ed

Why he might be annoying:

He started out as a romantic lead for the major studios, moving to B Westerns when that career stalled.
He was married and divorced twice.
Several co-workers complained that he was egotistical, a perfectionist and a camera hog.
He was so embarrassed about providing Mr. Ed's voice that he asked to be omitted from the credits.
Once the show was a hit, he changed his mind. (The producers offered him a raise in lieu of billing, which he accepted.)

Why he might not be annoying:

He lettered in three sports at Notre Dame.
He founded his own commercial photography studio.
He gave 'Mr. Ed' star Alan Young lessons to improve his riding skills.
Late in life, he looked up many of the people he had worked with and apologized for his behavior during his filmmaking days.
