The Resume

    (July 6, 2007- )
    Born in Flint, Michigan
    Amariyanna 'Mari' Copeny
    Nicknamed 'Mari My'Angel'
    Child model and pageant queen
Competed in over 50 beauty pageants prior to winning the Celebrity Miss Flint Pageant of 2015
Garnered fame at the age of nine with a series of viral videos drawing attention to the Flint Water Crisis
Initiated the trending hashtag #FlintLivesMatter; served as a Youth Ambassador to the 2017 Women's March on Washington
Wrote a letter to President Barack Obama asking to meet with him to discuss the problems facing Flint, prompting a visit from the President (Apr. 2016)
Met with Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, former President Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Jussie Smollett, Stevie Wonder and Steve Harvey

Why she might be annoying:

She was modelling and in beauty pageants by age five.
A strand of her hair got caught on Steve Harvey's button during her appearance on his show.
A photo went viral depicting her to be terrified at meeting then-candidate Donald Trump during his September 2016 visit to Flint.
The image was negatively contrasted with her enthused reaction to meeting President Barack Obama, usually with the images placed side-by-side as a meme.
While its very likely that she probably DID get more enjoyment out of meeting Obama than Trump, its difficult to gage how the actual meeting went given that no other stills - let alone footage - of their interaction have been made available online.
She has allowed herself to be used for more partisan purposes outside the cause of ending the Flint Water Crisis, usually as a means of attacking Trump.
This included an appearance at a #45 Climate rally in April of 2017, at which she criticized Trump's immigration policies before claiming that Trump 'broke his promise' to help Flint (even though he had visited Flint a month prior to her speech and had unveiled a solution proposal before a joint session of Congress two months prior).

Why she might not be annoying:

    She is adorable and bright.
She has appeared in commercials for JC Penny's.
She suffered from rashes on her arms from bathing in her city's infected water.
Her advocacy helped outsiders understand the seriousness of the ongoing Flint crisis (e.g. not being able to bathe or cook without jugs of water at their disposal).
She had no expectation that the White House would respond to her email, and only sent it because she was on her way to Washington D.C. to witness Rick Snyder testify before Congress.
Her meeting with Obama WOULD melt the hearts of even the President's staunchest critics.
The President also gave her a shoutout during his speech, saying: 'When something like this happens, a young girl shouldn't have to go to Washington to be heard. I thought her President should come to Flint to meet with her.'
She attested to experiencing cyberbullying and racial harassment over her activism, prompting the trending hashtag #ImWithMari.
She gave a classy response to the viral buzz surrounding the Trump photo, tweeting out an image of herself and cases of bottled water, reading: 'If you can share the #trump photo, you can help me raise awareness of the #FlintWaterCrisis #LittleMissFlint #Flint.'
She released a video virtually bitch-slapping Steve Harvey for mocking the Flint Water Crisis on his radio show, tweeting 'Flint is not a joke, Steve Harvey. Please apologize.' (Jun. 16, 2017).
