They were thinking about calling themselves the Minnesota Blue Ox and the Minnesota Voyageurs.
They lost their first game 3-1 against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
They were swept by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in their first ever appearance in the Western Conference finals.
They have an anthem that they sing at games.
The first verse in their anthem goes like this: 'We were raised, with the stick/ And a pair of blades, on the ice we cut our teeth/ We took our knocks, in the penalty box/ Our mother was the referee.'
Their inception as a team can be attributed to the expansion-crazy movement of the 1990's.

They retired the #1 in honor of their fans.
They chose the team name 'Wild' after a contest was held within the state of Minnesota.
They reached the Western Conference finals in their third season.
In addition to making it all the way to the West Conference finals, they rallied from 3-1 deficits twice (1st round against the Avalanche, 2nd round against the Canucks).
