    He was used as a backup catcher in the early stages of his major league career.
    He was a member of the Cardinals team that lost the World Series to the Minnesota Twins during his first major league season (1987).
    He grounded into 15 double plays (1992).
    Despite posting good numbers in defensive categories as a catcher, he only made one All-Star appearance.
    He was a below average hitter.
