Why he might be annoying:

His playing career with the Twins lasted one season.
His tenure as the team's manager was plagued by mediocrity.
He watched his team gradually regress in the standings following the team's 1991 World Series victory.
He claimed to be burnt out from managing at the age of 51 (2001).
He watched his team blow an eight game lead in the AL Central, which would eventually lead to the rival Indians coming back to win the division (2001).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the longest tenured manager in the history of the Twins franchise.
Prior to Jerry Sloan, he was the longest tenured coach/manager in professional sports.
He guided the Twins to the franchise's first two World Series titles.
He admitted later that another reason for his resignation was the uncertain future of the franchise, which was slated for contraction.
He strongly objected to a realignment proposal which would have seen the Twins switch over to the National League.
He groomed his successor Ron Gardenhire in a move which saw the team avoid contraction and develop into one of the AL's elite teams.
