    Conversely, other liberals and conservatives embrace his views.
    He has openly criticized both George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
    He has stood up for fellow muckrakers Edward Snowdenand Bradley Manning saying that both the government and the media need to be more honest to the American public.
    Newsweek magazine named him one of America's Top 10 Opinionists.
