He was a drug abuser.
He threw sex and drug parties.

Studio 54 symbolizes the 'Me Decade.'
Fifty IRS agents raided Studio 54 finding bags full of cash and records from his partner noting gifts of drugs from celebrities (December 1979).
He served a little over a year of his three-and-a-half year sentence for income tax evasion (February 1980).

His club grossed seven million dollars.
After release from prison he opened the Palladium and bought and renovating hotels.
He died at forty-five of AIDS-related complications (July 25, 1989).
