The Resume

    (September 1976-March 1982)
    Aired in syndication
    Hosted by Leonard Nimoy
Premise: Investigations of mysteries, usually involving the paranormal

Why In Search Of ... might be annoying:

The host was originally going to be Rod Serling (who had narrated the special 'In Search of Ancient Astronauts'), with Nimoy being brought in only because of Serling's death.
The episodes were longer on speculation and conjecture than actual evidence.
It relied heavily on stock footage.
A 2002 revival on the Sci-Fi Channel hosted by Mitch Pileggi lasted only one season.

Why In Search Of ... might not be annoying:

Its music was effective at creating an aura of suspense.
The show warned viewers, 'This series presents information based in part on theory and conjecture. The producer's purpose is to suggest some possible explanations, but not necessarily the only ones, to the mysteries we will examine.'
It gave Nimoy something to do with his downtime other than (God help us) record another album.
