Copies of 'Sails to the Wind' are extremely rare and hard to find.
He changed the spelling of his surname from Gouthro to Guthro.
Many European fans of Runrig are oblivious to the fact he is a solo artist in his native Canada.
Feeling like he had no future as a country artist, he converted to a pop artist.

He has won many East Coast Music Awards.
He has incorporated his Cape Breton roots into his music by having Celtic instruments played.
He recorded the duet 'Fiddle and Bow' with violinist and fellow Cape Breton Island native Natalie MacMaster.
He brought exposure to Scottish rock group Runrig to the North American market upon joining the group.
Despite frequently traveling in Europe as part of Runrig, he maintains his home base on Cape Breton Island.
