Why he might be annoying:

    His wife kept her maiden name when they married; they separated after 10 years together (2012).
    As Colorado governor, he signed gun control legislation in a state where gun control laws aren't popular.
    He was irritable with the media when answering questions about difficult subjects.
    He said he wanted to approach the business world with 'Quaker honesty', whatever that means.
    Partly due to his policies, leaders in several of Colorado's rural eastern counties wanted to secede from Colorado and start their own state of Northern Colorado.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He earned a master's degree in geology.
    He was known for running humorous and light-hearted campaign ads.
    A Democrat with a business background, his economic policies weren't completely disliked by Republicans.
    As Denver's mayor, he oversaw outreach programs to Denver's homeless population.
    He was praised as being one of the best big city mayors in the United States.
