Why he might be annoying:

He was warned several times to lose weight, and regretted that he made no effort.
In just a few months, he lost 150 lbs, then was paralyzed by a stroke and died just a year later, at 65 years old.
He was typecast as an immature bossy guy who blamed his problems on Laurel.
He change his name from Norvell to Oliver on the advice of a psychic.
He was planning to study law (but his sister told him he was a great comic and should concentrate on that).

200 of these films were made between 1914-1919.
He had a talented operatic singing voice as a child.
He was the first actor to portray the Tin Man in the early version of 'The Wizard of Oz' (1925).
