Why X-Files might be annoying:

It popularized a series of paranoid catch phrases ('Trust No One,' 'The Truth is Out There' and 'I Want to Believe').
The sexual tension between Mulder and Scully was never explored.
It's first four years were filmed in Canada.
Many fans waste their time writing horrible fan fiction about the shows characters.
Like Star Trek, it spun off into movies with 'X-Files: Fight the Future.'
Its ratings declined after the release of the movie, never to recover.
It spun off 'The Lone Gunmen' which was cancelled almost immediately.
They then killed off the 'Lone Gunmen' characters on this show.
David Duchovny quit the show after becoming bored with the direction it was taking, then came back.
They replaced him with the T-1000 (also known as Robert Patrick).
William B. Davis, who plays Cigarette-Smoking Man, was a non-smoker.
It became more and more unrealistic as the show winded down to cancellation.
Its fans refer to themselves as 'X-Philes' or 'eXcers' (but most real people call them 'losers').
why was the FBI investigating paranormal events instead of enforcing federal laws?

Why X-Files might not be annoying:

It was a surprise hit for FOX.
Its episodes covered mythology, alien invasions, strange creatures, vampires and other paranormal activities.
Critics noted the great chemistry between Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as the two FBI agents Mulder and Scully.
The number 42 appears frequently as a tribute to Douglas Adams' novel 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.'
It was one of the first television series to be heavily promoted via the Internet.
It had numerous well-crafted supporting characters.
It has various recurring gags that appear throughout the shows run (example: Mulder had an impressively sized porno collection).
It has a large fanbase that continues to thrive years after its cancellation.
It has been compared favorably to the 'Twilight Zone,' 'The Outer Limits' and 'Twin Peaks.'
    It has a memorable theme.
The show was satirized on the Simpsons.
