He initially balked at the Rangers two-way contract offer, citing he felt he had proved himself enough at the pro level that he didn't need to go to the minors.
As a result of being 26 years old upon making his NHL debut, he was ineligible to be considered a rookie.

He posted a strong season while playing for HIFK in Finland, which caught the eye of many NHL scouts.
He became the first Predator in franchise history to play a full season during his first year with the team (2003-04).
He holds the Predators franchise record for most power play points in a single season.
He recorded a career high 53 points during his first NHL season.
He was a member of the Czech Republic team that won a bronze medal at the Turin Olympics (2006).
