Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His name was considered too difficult to spell by North American hockey journalists.
Despite posting decent numbers in Detroit, he didn't receive a lot of mainstream exposure as a result of being on a superstar laden roster.
His lone season with the Sabres was plagued by injuries.
He initially clashed with Scotty Bowman over wearing #13, since the latter detested the number.

Why he might not be annoying:

He, along with Sergei Fedorov, Igor Larionov, Viacheslav Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov formed the famed 'Russian Five' tandem in the mid 1990's.
He was a member of the Red Wings back to back Stanley Cup victories in the late 1990's.
He had a successful career in the Russian leagues prior to establishing himself as a mainstay in the NHL.
He chose to reside in Atlanta, following the Thrashers relocation to Winnipeg, citing he and his family enjoyed the city's atmosphere.
