Why she might be annoying:

She gave her backing band the punning name 'The Mar-Teens.'
RCA Records dropped her after learning she was secretly married and pregnant (1958).
At the behest of her second husband, she dropped out of the music biz for the entire decade of the 60s.

Why she might not be annoying:

Billboard named her 'Most Promising Female Artist of 1956.'
Elvis Presley approved her 'Female Elvis' nickname and sent her a dozen roses.
She would stay for hours after a show to sign autographs and pose for photos.
