    Led Canada's Women's Curling team to a Gold Medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics
    Led 1993, 1994 and 1997 Scott Tournament of Hearts (Canadian Championship) and World Champion Winning Curling Teams
    Inducted into Canada's Curling Hall of Fame (1999)
    Died of cancer

Why she might be annoying:

    She divorced her first husband.
    Her nicknamw is 'Schmirler the Curler.'
    Weeks before she died, she sought alternative treatment to cure her cancer, through the controversial Canadian Cancer Research Group.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was is the Wayne Gretzky of curling.
    She charmed fans with her down-to-earth attitude, and the importance she placed on family and friends.
    She was diagnosed with cancer less than two months after giving birth to a daughter in August, 1999.
    She was very close with her second husband and her children, especially during her fight with cancer.
    Her funeral was carried all across Canadian television, and all flags in her home providence of Saskatchewan were at half-mast in the five day period after her death.
    The Sandra Schmirler foundation was set up in her honor right before she died to help families with children challenged by life threatening illnesses.
