Why he might be annoying:

    There is very little known about his life.
    His nickname was 'Doctor Subtilis' or 'The Subtle Doctor.'
    He was better at criticizing other's systems than creating his own.
    Like most Christian philosophers, he held that God was the answer to just about every question out there.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a professor at Oxford.
    He wrote on nearly every topic in philosophy as well as theology.
    He was one of the chief figures in Christian Europe who worked to keep philosophy alive during the middle ages.
