The Resume

    (April 22, 1943- )
Born in South River, New Jersey
    Birth name was Janet Schneider
Known for her series of crime novels featuring bounty hunter Stephanie Plum

Why she might be annoying:

She started writing romance novels under the name Steffie Hall.
She said she switched to writing adventure stories because 'After twelve romance novels, I ran out of sexual positions.'
Just like the titles of Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone novels each start with a different letter of the alphabet, her Stephanie Plum novels each feature a different number in the title. ('One for the Money,' 'Two for the Dough,' 'Three to Get Deadly,' etc.)
A running joke in her books is that Plum destroys every car she owns.
She said, 'If you want a really good plot, you're not going to like my plots.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She decided to make her heroine a bounty hunter after watching Robert De Niro in 'Midnight Run.'
She spent a good deal of time shadowing bounty hunters to become familiar with the demands of the job.
Starting with the sixth book, 'Hot Six,' each of her Plum novels hit #1 on the New York Times best seller list.
Most of the titles for her books were chosen from ideas submitted by her fans through her website.
Those titles do make it easy for a new reader to start at the beginning and follow along in order.
Her advice to aspiring authors is, 'Get out there and do it. Don't let rejection stop you. I received rejection letters for ten years and look at me now.'
