    Born in Waco, Texas
    Killed gas station employee Max Jensen and hotel manager Bennie Bushell during two robberies (July 19-20, 1976)
    Executed by firing squad in Utah
    First person executed in the US after the Supreme Court ruled revised death penalty statutes to not be 'cruel and unusual punishment' following a four year moratorium

Why he might be annoying:

    By his teen years, he was shoplifting and running a car theft ring.
    He was in and out of jail repeatedly for robbery and assault charges.
    He killed his two victims even though they complied with his demands.
    While getting rid of the pistol he used in the murders, he shot himself in the hand, leading to his capture.
    He attempted suicide twice while on death row.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He had an IQ of 133.
    According to his brother, their father was a 'cruel and unreasonable man.'
    He said about groups trying to overturn his death sentence, 'I would like them all to butt out. This is my life and this is my death. It's been sanctioned by the courts that I die and I accept that.'
    He donated his corneas for transplants.
    He inspired Norman Mailer's Pulitzer Prize winning novel 'The Executioner's Song.'
