Why he might be annoying:

Like most Holocaust deniers, he calls himself a 'revisionist' and tries to use free speech to justify his denial of the Holocaust.
He thinks that Anne Frank's diary and Elie Wiesel's wartime accounts are fakes.
He claimed to have interviewed Otto Frank as part of his 'research' into Anne Frank's diary, though much of what he asserted Frank told him was contradicted by Frank himself.
He harbored anti-German sentiments during and right after World War II.
He boasted to have discovered the only possible truth behind Arthur Rimbaud's 'Sonnet des voyelles' as an erotic text.
To complicate matters, Noam Chomsky signed a petition supporting Faurisson's actions as free speech. (1979)
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave him an award for 'courage'. (February 2, 2012)

Why he might not be annoying:

    He studied Greek and Latin.
    He considers himself apolitical.
There are rumors that his bank account has been frozen.
He was allegedly severely beaten by three youths claiming to come from a group called 'The Sons of the Memory of the Jews'. (September 16, 1989)
The UN Human Rights Committee's support for his conviction shows that free speech doesn't include the right to spread lies and hate speech. (1996)
