The Resume

    (June 28, 1942- )
    Born in Kingston, Pennsylvania
Professional bodybuilder and three time Mr Olympia; 1977, 1978, 1979
Also won three Mr Universe titles.
Author of; The Zane Way to a Beautiful Body, (1979) Super Bodies in 12 Weeks, (1982) Zane Nutrition, (1986) Fabulously Fit Forever, (1992) Frank Zane Mind Body Spirit, (1997) The Frank Zane Training Manual, (2005) The Def Handbook, (2008) and The Mind in Bodybuilding in 2009
    Nicknamed, The Chemist
Education: BS in Secondary Education from Wilkes University, BA in Psychology from Cal State in Los Angeles and a MS in Experimental Psychology from Cal State in Santa Barbara

Why he might be annoying:

A bodybuilder nicknamed, 'The Chemist' cannot help but cause some raised eyebrows.
He is very critical of Crossfit training with very little scientific research to back him up.
He only won his three Mr. Olympia titles after Arnold Schwarzenegger retired and when Schwarzenegger came out of retirement in 1980, he knocked Zane down to second place.
Infuriated over his second place finish in the 1980 Mr. Olympia contests, he withdrew from the 1981 contest in a snit and after coming in second and fourth in the 82 & 83 contests retired.
When he and his then fiancee entered their first duo contest, she won the women's division in her first contest ever but he only came in second in the me's division.

Why he might not be annoying:

At five foot nine and usually competing around 185 lbs, he was tiny compared to his competitors and was in fact the lightest Mr. Olympia winner ever.
At that same five foot nine/185 pounds, he had a 52 inch chest, 18 inch biceps and a 29 inch waist!
He had the kind of physique that non-bodybuilding fans would appreciate and carried the unofficial title, 'The Bodybuilder You'd Most Want to Look Like.'
He's one of only three men to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger in a professional bodybuilding contest.
He's been married to the same woman since 1967.
He taught high school math and science courses for years before turning to bodybuilding full-time and was still working as a full-time teacher when he won his first Mr. Olympia title.
He had to overcome two serious accidents to continue his career.
He shares the same hometown, Wilkes-Barres, Pennsylvania as female body-builder Raye Hollitt.
