Why he might be annoying:

    The Bush White House claims that Clarke is making up the allegations to promote his book.
    Some say that he is just a disgruntled man trying to get back at Bush for disagreements between the two of them.
    His name is very similar to that of Dick Clark.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and a M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1978.
    He had a distinguished political career under five presidents.
    He apologized to the families who lost loved ones on 9/11 for failing them (a very rare thing in politics).
