Why she might be annoying:

She looked like Barbara Bush.
Her honeymoon consisted of a 550-mile trek into the Arctic wilderness via dogsled and boat.
She took up naturalist causes only after marrying her husband.
Her sister married her husband's brother and they all lived together in a converted Wyoming dude ranch.
Though she was a public figure, her funeral was private.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the first woman to graduate from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1924).
Her lobbying helped create the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which covers over 19 million acres in northeastern Alaska (1960).
She helped author and champion the Wilderness Act (passed by Congress in 1964), protecting millions of acres of wilderness across the U.S.
She attended the signing of the act into law by President Lyndon Johnson (her husband died just months earlier).
She persuaded President Jimmy Carter to sign the Alaska Lands Act, increasing national park acreage, adding 56 million acres to the National Wilderness Preservation System and 54 million acres to the National Wildlife Refuge System (1980).
Robert Redford said of her efforts, 'Simply put, Mardy Murie is a national treasure.'
The National Park Service made her an honorary park ranger.
