The Resume

    (May 31, 1928-October 18, 2010)
    Born in Larchmont, New York
Birth name was Consuelo Pauline O'Brien O'Connor
Married Italian Count Rodolfo Crespi (1948-85)
    Editor of Vogue Italia
Popularized the designers Valentino, Fendi and Missoni

Why she might be annoying:

She simultaneously edited Vogue and did public relations for various designers. (Can you say, 'Conflict of interest'?)
She promoted longer hemlines with the comment, 'I now can't stand the sight of my knees showing.'
She named her dogs Fu Manchu and Snoopy.
When asked whose dress she was wearing, she would inevitably reply, 'Why, my own, of course.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She and her twin sister Gloria were featured in Look and Life as teens.
Designer Robert Caprico called her 'the most influential fashion figure in the world.'
She received Italy's highest civilian award for making the country a powerhouse in fashion.
Joseph Heller wrote, 'The beautiful Countess Consuelo Crespi (if there is such a thing) will always matter more than Albert Einstein, Madame Curie, Thomas Alva Edison, Andy Kagle and me.'
