The Resume

    (June 27, 1913-June 22, 1972)
    Born in Marshall, Arkansas
Birth name was James Elton Baker
Country music guitarist, singer, and songwriter
Popular singles include 'There's a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere,' 'I'm a Convict with Old Gory in My Heart,' 'Someday (You'll Want Me to Want You),' 'Blueberry Lane,' 'Detour,' 'Bells,' 'Candy Kisses,' 'Beyond the Sunset,' 'Quicksilver,' 'The Rovin Gambler,' 'Cannonball Yodel,' and 'Bitter Taste'
Released albums 'Yodel Songs,' 'The Wandering Cowboy,' 'Beyond the Sunset,' 'I Heard a Forest Praying,' 'The Best 1,' 'Singing Hills,' 'Somethin' for Everyone,' 'The Jimmie Rodgers Blues,' 'Sings Modern Country,' 'The Best 2,' 'Days of the Yodeling Cowboys,' 'More Days of the Yodeling Cowboys,' and 'Star Spangled Stardust'

Why he might be annoying:

    He was married four times.
He was considered a poor man's Jimmie Rodgers.
He took his first wife when she was only 15 (he was 21).
Also, his last wife was twenty-five years his junior.
He was pampered as a child due to his delicate condition, and his family nicknamed him 'Cute' (which stuck throughout his life).
He chose his middle name with the surname 'Britt' for his stage name because his birth name 'didn't sound hillbilly enough.'
He waged a half-hearted attempt to start a film career but it never panned out (he made only three B-westerns).
He unofficially 'retired,' in 1960, to pursue a bid for the Democratic Presidential nomination (which was almost certainly a publicity stunt).

Why he might not be annoying:

He suffered a fatal heart attack four days short of his 59th Birthday.
His parents didn't expect him to live long and waited a year to name him as a result.
He learned to hold yodels for minutes on end by holding his breath underwater as a kid.
His first two wives both died tragically (the first in a car accident, the second in childbirth).
'There's a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere' reached #7 on the Billboard Magazine's Pop Chart (1942).
'There’s a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere' broke sales records, ranging between one to four million discs by 1944.
'There’s a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere' was the first country performance awarded a Gold Record Disc by the RIAA.
'Somewhere (You'll Want Me to Want You)' peaked at #2 on the US Country Charts (1946).
'Detour' spent eleven weeks on the US Country Charts, starting at #5 and peaking at #3 (1946).
His song, 'Uranium Fever,' is featured in the open-world video game, 'Fallout 4,' on the in-game radio.
He recorded over 600 sides and 60 albums for RCA and assorted labels over a 30-year span.
