Why he might be annoying:

    He struggled to find his footing with the Maple Leafs in his first couple years with the team.
    He spent the majority of his career on a mediocre Bruins team.
    He was on the losing side of the Stanley Cup Finals three times (1957, 1958, 1966).
    He turned down an opportunity to play for the Buffalo Sabres in their inaugural season, opting to retire instead.
    He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, despite the fact he didn't win an individual award or was part of a Stanley Cup winning team.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was considered one of the toughest defensemen of his era to play against.
    He was the replacement for Bill Barilko on the Leafs blueline, following Barilko's disappearance.
    He served as the anchor of the Bruins blueline during the team's rebuilding years.
    He embraced the opportunity to go to Detroit, as he had the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio and Sid Abel.
    He was a member of the inaugural Penguins team (1967-68).
