    Younger sister of Aretha Franklin
    Recorded the singles 'It's True I'm Gonna Miss You' (1969) and 'All I Want Is To Be Your Woman' (1970)
    Wrote Aretha's songs 'Ain't No Way,' 'Save Me,' 'Pullin' and 'Angel'
    Appeared in the movie 'The Blues Brothers' (1980)

Why she might be annoying:

    Mary Wilson said about Carolyn's youth in Detroit, 'She always had street gangs and she was the gang leader. She was a little bully.'
    She initially recorded as Candy Carroll.
    She was overshadowed by Aretha.
    In the mid-70s she quit the music biz, except for occasionally singing backup for Aretha.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her singles attracted a cult following on England's 'Northern soul' circuit.
    She also wrote songs for Nina Simone, Esther Phillips, Hugh Masekela and Linda Hopkins.
    She trained and conducted Aretha's background singers.
    She was determined to complete a college degree in entertainment law despite being diagnosed with cancer; she received her diploma ten days before her death.
