Why he might be annoying:

Like the rest of the Soviet team, he was not really an amateur. The Soviet team was a group of men who were technically part of the Soviet Army whose job it was to play hockey.
He gave up two goals in the first period to the heavy underdog American team, which led to the coach pulling him.
The day before he was married, he allowed 8 goals against him.
The 'Miracle on Ice' was a stain on an otherwise unblemished record.

Why he might not be annoying:

As a child, he was good at many sports and ambitioned to master them all.
He has been called the greatest goalie who ever played hockey.
He was named a Soviet League All-Star from 1971 to 1984.
He was MVP of the Soviet League 5 times.
He won the Golden Hockey Stick, awarded to the best player in Europe from 1981-1983.
In 14 years in the Soviet League, he won 13 league titles.
The Soviets refused to allow him to be drafted by the NHL.
He was hired by the Chicago Blackhawks as a goalie coach, and he coached greats such as Ed Belfour, Dominik Hasek, and Jocelyn Thibault.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin for being a 'hero of the Soviet Union.'
He was elected to the Duma, the Russian legislature and chairs the Committee on Physical Culture, Youth, and Sports.
