Why he might be annoying:

According to a British ambassador, he had such a severe stutter that 'he would sometimes hold his tongue out of his mouth a good while before he could speak so much as one word.'
His mother was the de facto ruler of the country for the first seven years of his reign.
He may have had a homosexual affair with the Marquis de Cinq-Mars.
He is often depicted as a comic bungler in adaptations of 'The Three Musketeers.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was called 'Louis the Chaste' because he never took a mistress.
He had to put down a number of rebellions, including one led by his younger brother.
He reversed the trend of promising French artists leaving for Italy by commissioning them to decorate the Louvre.
With Cardinal Richelieu, he laid the foundations for France emerging as the most powerful nation in Europe during his son's reign.
