Midfielder for Botafogo (1974-78,1989), Corinthians (1978-84), Fiorentina (1984-85), Flamengo (1986-87), Santos (1988-89) and Garforth Town (2004)
Played for the Brazilian national team (1979-86)

Why he might be annoying:

His full name is danged long.
He said two of his childhood heros were Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
He complained, 'The way of life is so correct and organized in Europe.... I was in Florence for a year with Fiorentina and sometimes I didn't want to train, but to hang out with friends, party or have a smoke.'
Fifteen years after retiring, he signed as a player-coach with Garforth Town in England for one month, racking up a total of twelve minutes of playing time.

He earned a medical degree while playing soccer.
He organized the Corinthians Democracy movement to protest Brazil's military dictatorship.
He and his Corinthians teammates wore shirts with 'Democracia' written on them, and, after multiparty elections were allowed, 'Vote on the 15th.'
He said about soccer, 'For me, beauty comes first, victory is secondary and what really matters is joy.'
