    Born in New Orleans, Louisiana
    Founded the Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits fast food chain (1972)
    Also founded the restaurants Copeland's of New Orleans, Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro and Sweet, Fire & Ice
    Founded the restaurant supply company Al's Diversified Foods and Seasonings
    Also known for his annual Christmas light displays

Why he might be annoying:

    Commenting on his flashy attire and cars, the New Orleans Times-Picayune called him Louisiana's homegrown Liberace.
    He was married and divorced four times.
    The judge from his third divorce pled guilty to offering a favorable child custody ruling in return for a seafood contract with Copeland's restaurants.
    His fourth wife charged him with domestic violence.
    After losing a riverboat gambling license to casino owner Robert Guidry, he and Guidry got into a fistfight at a local steakhouse.
    After borrowing heavily to purchase rival Church's Chicken, he filed for bankruptcy and lost both chains (1992).

Why he might not be annoying:

    His father abandoned the family shortly after his birth.
    He provided Christmas gifts to a thousand needy children a year.
    After feuding with Anne Rice, he said he would add more garlic to the recipes to ward of vampires.
    He commented, 'If you've got a dream, you might as well dream big.'
