They weren't really Swedish and most of them weren't really blonde.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest called the ads 'misleading and irresponsible.'
Female employees of Stroh's Brewery filed a lawsuit claiming the ads, by portraying women as 'giggling, jiggling idiots who have large breasts and small minds,' helped foster an environment conducive to sexual harassment.

Why they might not be annoying:

Many viewers considered them a parody of traditional beer advertising.
They appeared twice on 'Married with Children.'
They posed in Playboy.
